Ahhhhh....the assessments are over! At least for my grade level. Next week begins the older grades. Tests are nerve-wracking for teachers. There are things you cannot control, students still get answers wrong despite the fact that you taught the skill and reviewed it 'til the cows came home. And regardless of how your principal says the scores don't matter, they do. Because there is even more pressure on those who run the school.
Nerves are not only bottling up inside the teachers. I had several students mumble how nervous they were; that they were scared. Some students in another class even emptied their stomachs and had to leave their test.
So sad.
However, we are now finished! During the test, I felt pretty good about the exam. It seemed "fair". Except for one portion of the text, which I fear seeing the results of. More to come later.
Now we can have fun. What to do for 5 more weeks (that's it!?)?? Fun stuff. Projects, web-quests, and powerpoints. No follow up test to make sure they got all the learning they were supposed to!
