Burned Fingers, Pizza Fractions

We begin fractions this week. Pizza is always an idea to connect with fractions. I have a big felt board on my easel, so I thought I would make felt pizzas.

I have a few burned fingers (hot glue!), but had so much fun.

And the students are going to LOVE this.

We gotta keep it fresh, keep it fun. Especially for the teacher! :)

We can use the slices to talk about equal parts, how many were eaten from the whole, etc. I will also use the slices to talk about fractions in a set- how many of the slices have sausage? How many have green pepper?

Stay tuned for a tutorial on how to make them! Very easy and quick!

Teaching halves....

Eighths...

I even found a Shakey's Pizza Box to put it all in!

I made a green pepper, sausage and mushroom pizza and a pepperoni and onion pizza.

What are your favorite toppings???
